Meet the Team
Our team of four orthodontic clinicians are supported by two orthodontic therapists and seven fully registered dental nurses. There is also an admin team of eight dedicated people to fully support the clinical team.
Mark Brickley
BDS MscD PhD MOrth RCS (Ed)
Dr Mark Brickley qualified as a general dentist in 1988 from Bristol University. Mark worked in general practice until 1991 when he undertook further studies in orthodontics at Cardiff university. During this time Dr Brickley gained his doctorate in dental decision making, an MScD in orthodontics and a MOrth (RCS Ed) in orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons. He was accepted onto the internationally recognised specialist list in Orthodontics in 2000. Mark remains active in orthodontic research looking at cytokine expression in tooth movement. Mark also leads the Somerset Orthodontic study group, has a research associateship to Oxford Brookes University and is active in developing new orthodontic appliances. He leads the team here as well as having a biotechnology company and is clinical advisor to Bioprecision diagnostics, a major orthodontic software company. He lectures widely and has published over 50 scientific articles. He lives in Somerton with his wife Nicki and three children. His outside interests include photography, skiing and playing the guitar enthusiastically but badly!
Sue Jones
BDS
Sue Qualified as a dentist in 1987 from Manchester Dental School. During her time there she took a break from clinical studies to complete a BSc degree in dental sciences. After graduating Sue worked at Manchester Dental hospital for a time; she then worked in general practice in Macclesfield and Glossop before returning to her roots in Somerset. Sue undertook further training at Yeovil District hospital to pursue her interest in orthodontics. In 2000 Dr Brickley founded Yeovil Orthodontics and Sue has been part of our team since the very beginning. Sue lives near Langport with her husband Steve and their three children.
Sarah Davies
BDS
After qualifying as a dentist in 1998 Sarah spent several years working in general dentistry in practice and at the children's departments at both Bristol and Birmingham dental hospitals. In 2001, following some further orthodontic training, she Sarah moved to New Zealand with her family where she started working at a specialist orthodontic practice. On returning to England in 2005 Sarah started working with us at Yeovil Orthodontics. Sarah lives in Devon with her husband and their two children.
Helen Griffiths

After qualifying as a dentist in 1991 Helen spent a year working in to General Dentistry in South-West London. Helen then went on to work in Belfast, Chichester and Manchester Hospital as a House Officer and Senior House officer. In 1996 Helen began her specialist orthodontic training in Norwich, King's Lyn and Guy's hospital. In 1999 Helen completed her intial orthodontic training. After further training Helen was appointed as Consultant of Orthodontics at the Princess Alexandra NHS Trust in Harlow. In 2004 Helen went on to work in the same role at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. On returning to the South West, in 2006, Helen took up her current posts as Consultant in Orthodontics at Yeovil District Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital. Helen joined the team here in 2007.
Kirsty Gibbs
Dip Ortho Therapy
Kirsty worked as a general dental nurse for two years prior to joining the team at Yeovil Orthodontics in 2001. During her time with the practice she was successful in gaining post graduate qualifications in Dental Radiography and Orthodontic Nursing. After deciding to further her clinical career Kirsty achieved more success when gaining a place on the South Wales Orthodontic Therapy course which she qualified from in 2009. Kirsty is passionate about orthodontics and hopes that her qualification and experience in this field of dentistry will offer Resolution patients a high standard of care.
Carly Gubb
Dip Ortho Therapy
Carly worked as a qualified dental nurse for the past 8 years. After successfully gaining her post graduate qualifications in both Radiography and Orthodontic nursing her ambitions led her to apply for a place on the Orthodontic Therapy Course, which she completed in July 2010. Carly is committed to providing the very highest levels of orthodontic treatment and enjoys the care and interaction she has with all of her patients.
Andy Armstrong
BDS MFDS RCS
Mr Armstrong has many years experience in both hospital and practice based oral surgery. He gained his MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003 and currently works in the Maxilliofacial departments in Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and Yeovil District Hospital.
Karen Hampson
CEB Dip Dent Hygiene 1995
Karen has worked in a variety of practices in Somerset and Dorset offering routine and advanced periodontal care. In addition to full periodontal assessments, she offers a full range of non surgical treatment options with or without local anaesthetic, including topical applications and comprehensive oral hygiene advice and instruction. Karen gets her greatest satisfaction from seeing the results her patients achieve with her help and thoroughly enjoys working along side clinicians with different dental specialities.
Helen Astill
Helen Astill gained her BSC (Hons) in Nutritional Therapy / Health Sciences at the University of Westminster in 2001. Having been a qualified dental hygienist since 1994 (Eastman Dental hospital). Helen has a wide medical knowledge. She has two children and shares her time between being a Mum, working part time as a hygienist and working as a nutritional therapist. During her time at Westminster Helen also gained qualifications in Swedish massage and Thai yoga massage. She has experience in a wide range of other complimentary therapies as well as personal development and life coaching skills.
Amy Burn
Amy Burn is a graduate of the prestigious Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. Here she achieved a distinction in her Masters degree and was awarded the Flavio Grillo Prize for Best Clinical Proficiency Performance. After qualifying in 2006, she completed a one year post graduate qualification in chiropractic practice to obtain her DC.
During her teenage years Amy competed for Kent and the National Squad for Judo and it was then that she first encountered chiropractic when suffering from an injury to her back.
Amy helps patients from all age groups, from children to elderly patients and athletes. She uses a variety of chiropractic techniques and also completed a post graduate course in dry needling. Amy believes in a holistic approach to healthcare and enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team.
Judith O' Hagan
Judith O'Hagan has over 30 years experience of working with the emotional and mental components of physical injury problems. She uses gentle techniques of transpersonal psychotherapy to help her clients recognise and accept the emotional and mental factors which may be contributing to the physical condition. Once the message of the symptom has been understood by the client she can suggest appropriate strategies and life style changes to help the client manage their symptoms and support a return to health.
Julie Beale
Julie Beale, is a Hair Loss Consultant/Wig Fitter. Julie is 38 years old and married with two children. When she left school she trained at Yeovil college and qualified in hairdressing, make up and manicure. After running her own hair salon in Ilchester for 8 years and 5 years ago, Julie started work for a wig company as a hair loss consutant within the NHS at Yeovil and Taunton Musgrove hospital, running clinics on a weekly basis fitting and styling wigs for chemotherapy and alopecia patients. Julie is now offering her services privately in my Hair Loss Clinic at Resolution Specialist Treatment Centre in Yeovil.
